Why I don’t use before and after photos
16/11/2020
If you’ve taken a look around my website and social media channels you will see that there are no before and after photos of clients. You might think this is strange for a facial aesthetics website as many practices plaster before and after pictures like there is no tomorrow! I wanted to take a different approach as many of my clients prefer a more discreet service and may feel uncomfortable having their photo taken to be posted on social media. I also think by doing this you are essentially using your clients to promote yourself and your business when they may not feel entirely comfortable saying ‘no’.
If you come and see me for a consultation, it is at this point that I can show you before and after pictures if you wish. This sits better with me morally as I know that many of my clients opt for subtle changes so they don’t have to tell anyone. It is completely up to you whether you tell your friends/family. By posting before and after pictures online, I am essentially taking away your right to discretion and I believe it’s entirely up to you.
I also want patients to buy into the idea of being treated by me, my qualifications, my experience and my guidance on what is best for them. My clients, like me, believe in subtle changes to skin rejuvenation. In the process of treating a patient I want to be able to work collaboratively on a bespoke approach to their skincare. I want to avoid people coming in with a picture of a celeb, for example, or someone else they want to look like.
Using facial aesthetics to look like someone else is impossible.
Tailored treatment plans
Every person is different and will need a carefully tailored treatment plan. By showing before and after pictures you are feeding this idea of people wanting to look like someone else other than themselves. You give them a point of reference to directly compare themselves with others. This can be unhealthy. I would hate to imagine a potential client looking at an image of another client and feeling unworthy and unhappy as they don’t think they look as good as the person they are seeing.
Hello me is about feeling like YOU, just a rejuvenated version of you, not anyone else. I want all my clients to feel good about themselves and comfortable coming to see me, knowing that I have their best interests at the forefront of my mind. I want to provide a service where my clients understand that I value their decision to tell absolutely everyone OR be totally discreet and tell no one. Whatever you decide, I’m with you.
Discreetly yours
Rashmi x
