3 (not so) Secret Uses of Botox

22/09/2020

As soon as you hear the word ‘Botox’ most of us would instantly think ‘wrinkle relaxing injections’ to help with fine lines and wrinkles on the face. Botox is an extremely versatile drug and has many uses that you may not be aware of. Here are just three…

  1. Botox can help with acne
Acne can be a real issue for some people, especially in teenage years but many go through phases of acne in later life, which can be distressing. Botox actually has qualities to tackle acne as it reduces the natural oils in your skin. These oils are responsible for causing spots. Other medical treatments should, of course, be considered first, such as the contraception pill or topical creams but Botox is an option for troublesome skin.
  2. Botox can stop migraines
Botox can actually be prescribed to patients who suffer from chronic migraines. The theory is that it blocks the pain signals being sent to the brain and that it relaxes the muscles in the head so they’re not as sensitive to pain. In this case, a doctor would inject Botox into the forehead, temples, and scalp. This is offered to patient in extreme cases as it has to be repeated on a regular basis.
  3. Botox can stop excessive sweating
Good news for anyone struggling with excessive underarm sweating. Botox is able to reduce sweating by severing the nerves that signal the sweat glands. Botox treats hyperhidrosis by blocking a neurotransmitter that stimulates the sweat glands, essentially paralysing them. This treatment is usually offered in very severe cases when excess sweating is affecting the patient’s quality of life.

If you’re concerned about any of these issues and would like to speak to us about how Botox can help then book a consultation. You can also read more about the treatments we offer at Hello me.
